Cherry prepares Form SS-4, collects the responsible party's signature, and files it with the IRS on the company's behalf as third-party designee. The IRS issues these by fax to applicants without a US tax identifier and typically takes several weeks — commonly four to eight — against same-day for an applicant with an SSN.
